Breathing en Pantar Amsterdam hebben een samenwerkingsovereenkomst gesloten voor de ontwikkeling en programmering van het jaarlijkse South East Jazz festival, dat dit jaar op Boerderij Langerlust op zaterdag 5 Juni 2010 gaat plaatsvinden.

De samenwerking is van oorsprong duurzaam en gericht op de inhoudelijke ontwikkeling van het festival. De positionering en branding zijn zaken waar Breathing in adviseert. Als programmeur van de artistieke inhoud zorgt Breathing voor een stuk advisering in artiest keuzes en repertoire. De ervaring van Breathing als diversiteit en cross-over specialist bij uitstek ziet Pantar als een meerwaarde, bovendien is de uitstraling van Boerderij Langerlust passend bij de ambitie van Breathing.

Immigration and diversity are the biggest, hottest, most painful issues in the Netherlands. America is the land of diversity. What’s the secret to America’s approach? It’s a tiny thing: the hyphen (streepje). Everyone in the U.S. has a dual identity: Mexican-American, Italian-American, African-American… America tells newcomers: “Become American, join us…but don’t lose your origins.” It has taken a few hundred years, and it has plenty of flaws, but American diversity works. The purpose of this special, all-day event, organized by the John Adams Institute with the sponsorship of the Dutch Ministry for Foreign Affairs and the U.S. Embassy in The Hague, is to pose this question: Can the American diversity format work in the Netherlands?

· A report by Pia Dijkstra on the future of women in the Dutch workforce.

· Airing of an episode of the documentary “The New York Connection,” about diversity in New York.

· Amsterdam street musicians, a slideshow on what it’s like to be an illegal immigrant in New York, and a case study of how Pepsi pioneered the integration of blacks into its sales force in the 1940s.

Ladybird In Concert is een kruisbestuiving van een klassiek orkest met andere muziekstijlen uit de Amsterdamse Bijlmer. Voor het eerst te horen bij de opening van het nieuwe Bijlmerpark Theater op 11 oktober 2009. Een speciaal programma van Stichting Breathing waarin de klassieke muzikanten van Combattimento Consort Amsterdam samenspelen met top muzikanten uit de Bijlmer die de klassieke klanken van Salsa, Caribbean, Jazz en Arabische muziek tot een spannend geheel laten vormen. Een muzikaal verhaal over moed en inspiratie.
